AFRICA
Democratic Republic of Congo
The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remains one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises. Ongoing conflict, economic pressures, and climate shocks have left over 27 million people in urgent need of assistance. Violence between armed groups and the Congolese army has displaced millions, many of whom face inadequate shelter, poor sanitation, and a lack
of basic services. The country also faces severe food insecurity, with widespread hunger exacerbated by both conflict and climate-related issues.
Through our work with with trusted organizations on the ground, The Helpers International is
committed to providing lifesaving aid to those most affected by the crisis in DRC. Our efforts
focus on delivering food, clean water, medical care, and protection to vulnerable communities,
especially internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees. With the humanitarian situation
expected to worsen, your support helps us continue to provide essential aid and work toward
long-term recovery and stability for the people of the DRC.

Ethiopia
Ethiopia is facing a complex humanitarian crisis, with ongoing conflicts, natural disasters, and
public health emergencies compounding the suffering of millions. While the conflict in northern
Ethiopia has officially ended, its impact continues to leave widespread displacement and severe
humanitarian needs, especially in the Afar, Amhara, and Tigray regions. Simultaneously,
escalating ethnic conflicts in Oromia and Amhara, along with the devastating effects of
alternating droughts and floods, are further exacerbating food insecurity and displacing
communities. In 2024, over 15 million people are acutely food insecure, with more than 20
million in need of humanitarian assistance across the country.
The Helpers International is committed to providing vital support in Ethiopia by helping local
and international organizations to deliver food, water, shelter, and medical care. Our efforts
focus on stabilizing vulnerable communities, improving access to essential services, and
mitigating the long- term impacts of both conflict and climate change. Through your donations,
we aim to provide lifesaving aid, support displaced populations, and help rebuild livelihoods in a
country facing multiple, overlapping crises.
Niger
Niger is facing a multifaceted crisis, driven by ongoing violence from non-state armed groups,
political instability, and the compounded effects of climate change. The country is grappling
with conflict on three fronts: the Liptako-Gourma crisis in the northwest, the Lake Chad crisis in
the east, and ongoing tensions in the Maradi region along the border with Nigeria. This has led to
widespread displacement, with over 900,000 refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in
urgent need of support. Adding to these challenges, the recent coup has led to intensified
political tensions, economic sanctions, and the suspension of critical development funding from
many Western donors.
In 2024, the impact of these crises, combined with severe food insecurity, has left 7.3 million people at risk of hunger. Climate-related disasters, such as floods, have affected over 1.5 million people, further exacerbating the crisis and displacing communities. As Niger faces the prospect
of 2.2 million people being food insecure by the 2025 lean season, The Helpers International is committed to supporting nutritional programs, healthcare services, and emergency relief efforts. Through our work in Niger, we aim to mitigate the impact of these crises, helping to ensure that the most vulnerable receive the aid they urgently need.

Somalia
Somalia continues to grapple with a combination of conflict, climate-related disasters, and a
deepening food insecurity crisis, leaving millions in urgent need of assistance. In 2024, nearly
4.4 million people are facing crisis-level food insecurity, with more than 1.6 million children
suffering from acute malnutrition. The situation is further exacerbated by ongoing violence from
the militant group al-Shabaab and increasing inter-clan conflicts, which have displaced tens of
thousands of people. The withdrawal of external forces, including the African Union Transition
Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), by the end of 2024 raises concerns about escalating violence and
instability.
In addition to conflict, Somalia is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, experiencing frequent droughts and flooding. After enduring the worst drought on record between 2021 and 2023, communities are still recovering, and the onset of La Niñ a in 2025 poses a renewed risk of drought. These climatic shocks, combined with the ongoing violence, are expected to worsen food insecurity and malnutrition in the country. The Helpers International remains committed to providing critical aid to the people of Somalia by supporting food relief, healthcare, and long-term recovery efforts for displaced communities facing both immediate and future challenges. Your support can help stabilize vulnerable populations and rebuild essential infrastructure in a country deeply affected by both conflict and climate change.
South Sudan
South Sudan is facing an escalating humanitarian crisis, driven by conflict, economic instability,
and climate disasters. The country remains heavily affected by localized violence, economic
turmoil, and flooding, which together have left 9.3 million people—over 69% of the
population— in need of humanitarian assistance. In 2024, more than 7.6 million people are
experiencing critical levels of food insecurity, with 63,000 facing catastrophic hunger. The
ongoing conflict in neighboring Sudan further complicates South Sudan’s situation, with over
878,000 refugees fleeing to South Sudan, straining resources and intensifying competition for
land and basic services.
The Helpers International is committed to providing lifesaving aid in South Sudan, focusing on
food security, healthcare, and flood recovery. Our efforts are crucial in stabilizing affected
communities and preventing further deterioration of living conditions. As political tensions rise
and the country faces its first-ever elections in 2025, the need for continued support and long-
term recovery interventions is greater than ever. With your help, we can work together to provide
stability and hope to those enduring extreme challenges in South Sudan.

Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso remains at the center of one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the Sahel,
with escalating violence and widespread displacement. Armed groups, including the Islamic
State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) and Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), have
caused widespread destruction, massacres, and forced the displacement of over 2 million people.
In 2024, more than 1,800 civilians were killed in just the first six months, and many towns—home to nearly 2
million people—have been cut off from aid and basic services. The humanitarian situation
continues to deteriorate, with limited access to food, water, and healthcare, compounded by
growing regional and internal violence.
The Helpers International is focused on providing essential aid to those affected by these crises,
prioritizing access to food, healthcare, and safety for those displaced or living in besieged areas.
As Burkina Faso enters 2025, humanitarian needs will intensify, and our efforts aim to bring
vital support to the most vulnerable communities. Your contributions help us reach those trapped
in conflict zones and ensure that essential services can reach the people who need them the most.
Mali
Mali is caught in a brutal and expanding multi-front conflict that continues to devastate its
population. As armed groups, including JNIM and ISGS, besiege more towns and cities, the
civilian toll rises sharply, with over 1,800 civilians killed in the first half of 2024 alone. The
ongoing violence has left 5.9 million people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. In
addition to the conflict, widespread food insecurity is being exacerbated by attacks on food
production, with over 65 granaries intentionally destroyed in 2024. With major supply routes
blocked, many regions are experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger, where families are facing
the direst consequences, including starvation.
The Helpers International is committed to providing critical support in Mali, addressing the
immediate needs for food, healthcare, and protection for displaced populations. As the violence
continues to spread and the country faces a worsening food crisis, your support is crucial to
ensuring that aid reaches those in the most inaccessible and devastated areas. Together, we can
help mitigate the impact of this deepening crisis and work towards long-term recovery and
stability for the people of Mali.

Sudan
Sudan is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, as a brutal civil war between the Sudanese
Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has displaced 14.6 million people,
making it the largest and fastest displacement crisis in the world. The conflict, which began in
April 2023, has left 30.4 million people—over 64% of the population—urgently in need of
assistance. The fighting has led to widespread violence, including attacks on civilians, sexual
violence, and the recruitment of child soldiers. With external powers fueling the conflict by
supplying weapons rather than pushing for peace, the humanitarian situation is expected to
worsen in 2025, with famine already present in some areas.
The humanitarian needs in Sudan are dire, with over 750,000 people facing catastrophic food
insecurity and a collapsing healthcare system. Attacks on healthcare facilities have severely
impacted the ability to provide basic medical care, with diseases like cholera and malaria causing
devastating death rates. Humanitarian access is severely restricted as both factions block aid
from reaching vulnerable populations. The Helpers International is dedicated to providing food
security, healthcare, and protection for displaced communities in Sudan. Through your support,
we can help deliver essential aid and work towards alleviating the suffering of millions in this
crisis.
